New salary limit to sponsor family only applies to Dubai
Requirement was implemented in emirate more than a week ago, official says

Abu Dhabi: The increase in the minimum salary limit from Dh4,000 to Dh10,000 per month to sponsor immediate family members only applies to Dubai, an immigration official told Gulf News on Saturday.
The salary requirement to sponsor wives and children in Abu Dhabi and other emirates has not changed and remains at Dh4,000 per month or Dh3,000 with accommodation, a senior official at the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA), said on condition of anonymity.
The official confirmed that the Dh6,000 increase in the minimum salary requirement was implemented in Dubai more than a week ago. The move aims to ensure that Dubai residents can provide a good quality of life to their families considering the increasing cost of living in the city.
However, the official website of GDRFA did not show any change in the rule. When contacted, the customer service agent at the GDFRA toll-free Amer service said he was not aware of any change in the minimum salary limit. According to him, the salary limit for an expatriate to sponsor family remained at Dh4,000 or Dh3,000 with accommodation.

If such rules are implemented in the emirate of dubai then the only people who can afford to sponsor will be all managers. Can u imagine dubai with only managers and not middle-class families??? Its absurd.

what about those who are earning standard salary? or less? that simply means, they dont have right to stay in Dubai with family? what about demanding the companies to give right figure of salary to expat employees meetign the needs of the government? this isnt fair at all!

I understand the cost of living has gone high and need AED10,000 for decent living. However, there are many people who earns less than this amount and live either Sharjah or Ajman. I don't understand the logic how it is suddenly increased from 4K to 10K. How about poor labors who earns only 300-500 AED per month - why they are not bothered to make minimum wages to at least 1000 AED ?

I tried to apply several times in March but my application was rejected because of the salary limit, despite the fact that I live in Ajman and just had to make my visa on Dubai I think they need to be more flexible about that condition and not preventing families from living together. I've been living in foreign countries and never heard about such condition. in my opinion if they will put a minimum salary limit, why not putting it for employers instead of the employees?

This is really horrible, of course now when rent itself is 4000 AED, then how can one sponsor a family with 4000 AED salary? now only very few ppl can sponsor their families in Dubai. Its really sad.
